Anyone tried it or heard of it working? My gold lace is still sitting but obviously doesn't get it as she has no eggs or a rooster. What do you reckon would happen if I slipped six day old sexed Hylines under her one night? Have been meaning to get her six eggs but with my luck I would then have to deal with five roosters.

Maybe I slip two fertiles under her along with four others then sneak the 4 day old sexed chickens in there after the two hatch?

What do you reckon?

I've never tried it but I reckon it is worth a go. Early morning when it is still dark then monitor for signs of bonding.

Thanks Simo, you reckon make sure there are eggs under her first or just go for it with some day olds?

Might just go for it with day olds as we have the heater set up at work for if it fails and I need them to be removed.

Yeah, just go for it raising day old in summer is easy if it fails.

Why don't you ask if you can get point of hatch eggs. Haha I just made that up. I suppose they are not sexed at that point

Great Idea Faye, I reckon you could sell heap of point of hatch eggs if you could time it right so they hatch on Easter morning :joy:

They are pretty spot on with their timing Simo. Would just have to keep the heat up to them.

Never ended up doing this as the chook went off clucky and we currently have crow epidemic. Thye wiped out all our neighbours ducklings!! I did do a fair bit of reading though and it seems it is quite common practice and is pretty successful with good sitters.
