Hi guys. Thought I should work out how to post photos. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Got busy on the weekend and planted some potatoes that I have had chitting for a while and ended up covering them with a temporary greenhouse, just incase we get more frost or more wet weather.
This is the prepared trenches with weeds and soil mounded up (and warming) and a sprinkling of compost in the trenches.

Thanks Charlie. The soil there is mostly loam and the weeds seem to grow well there, so I am optimistic. There were plenty of worms there when I was digging and it is where a previous owner had a sheep pen. Even so I'll add some more compost and mulch as the potatoes grow.

Hi guys,
Bear, thank you for the encouragement, hope things are going well for you.

Gazza, I don't know what you'll find here yet either however I am glad you found here :joy: .

The potatoes have all produced stems now that winter is all but gone and are looking good despite two small setbacks. Firstly Red Legged Earthmite were eating the shoots on around half the plants. The warmer weather (and the greenhouse temperatures ) seemed to knock the population off, although the numbers of predatory insects may have simply caught up. Either way I can see that with early winter plantings there could be challenges.
Secondly the temporary greenhouse decided to temporarily relocate, allowing the chickens some good scratching time, at the expense of some sprouts. I've since worked out were the pegs that came with it belong, but that's farming.
